hey all!!
It’s my second week of ministry at Joshua project, adn i am loving it!! I am falling more in love with the kids everyday! these kids come from such hard lives. Most carry knives on them so that they can live if someone tries to hurt them. They are all so tough, but I love that they can melt when they are truley loved.
Yesterday, after the program was over, a few of them stayed around. After playing for a while, we went to the beach and played near the water with them. it was amazing to see the change in them as we did this. Maybe it was becasue we were outside the classroom setting, or maybe it was becasue they reliezed that we were here becasue we cared about them, and we wanted to hang out with them outside of the normal building. Whatever the reason, they turned into differnt kids. they almsot came alieve as we played tag with them and threw them into the waves. I could see parts of their hearts they had kept locked up suddenly being unleashed, and they began to let us see the tiniest glimpse of who they are. I was so excited!! not that it was a great big glimpse, and I wouldn’t even call it a breakthrough, but for the hour we were with them, they were just.. real. They didn’t mask themselves with tougness or pretend that they didn’t like us. i have never been so happy when I saw kids smile and laugh.
God is good to make the earth the way he did for us to enjoy, I reliezed that at the ocean, too. he made the beautiful ocean and all the creatures in it (some I have seen include dolphins and jelly fish), jsut for us to enjoy. we wouldn’t know what the world would be without them, yet, we have them jsut becasue God wanted us to see them and enjoy a peiece of him. God watned to stop and play with us at the ocean and just enjoy, ike those kids did. how cool!!
Please pray for my sister and teamate, Cassie! she is very sick, and the doctors are having a hard time finding out what is wrong!!
i will post the link to pictures soon!!
